Ski Tuner - Full-Time (min 5 days a week)

Schedule: Evening shift, typically 4:30PM-11PM (varies depending on ski volume)
Status: Full-Time, Seasonal

As a full-time Ski Tuner at Powder House, you'll play a key role in ensuring our customers' skiing experience is safe, high-performing, and enjoyable. You'll be responsible for expertly tuning skis each evening, including detailed work such as edge sharpening, base repair, waxing, and applying structure. We offer overnight tunes, so tuning starts late afternoon and continues into the evening.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ski Inspection: Check skis for damage, wear, and customer requests; identify any safety issues
  • Edge Sharpening: Use tuning tools to create clean, consistent edges tailored to snow conditions and skier preference
  • Base Repair: Handle all levels of base damage, including core shots, compressions, cracked edges, and epoxy work
  • Base Grinding & Structure: Ensure skis are flat before applying appropriate structure; must be comfortable working with tuning machinery at a high level
  • Waxing: Apply the correct wax based on anticipated conditions and skier requests
  • Binding Checks: Perform binding safety inspections and adjust release settings based on skier info (height, weight, ability)
  • Equipment Maintenance: Keep tuning tools clean and calibrated for consistent results
  • Inventory Support: Monitor tuning supplies and communicate when restocks are needed
  • Customer Interaction: Engage with customers when needed to clarify tuning preferences
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside other techs and retail staff to support a smooth operation

Qualifications

  • Previous ski tuning experience preferred, or strong mechanical aptitude
