Position Summary:
The Manager, Business Planning is responsible for driving strategic business planning and supporting key management decisions across the organization. This position leads company-wide and cross-functional initiatives related to business strategy, operational performance, new business opportunities, and major projects within the battery industry.
The role also leads strategic initiatives related to U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tax credits, including Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credits, overseeing credit strategy, eligibility assessment, compliance, monetization, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead annual and mid- to long-term business planning activities aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and operational priorities.
- Analyze overall business and operational performance and identify key issues, risks, trends, and opportunities requiring management attention.
- Develop business scenarios, forecasts, and strategic analyses to support executive management decision-making and long-term business direction.
- Prepare and coordinate key management reports, business reviews, and executive-level presentations regarding business performance, strategic priorities, and major initiatives.
- Lead and coordinate strategic and project-based initiatives within the battery industry, including new business opportunities, production expansion, customer-related projects, supply chain strategies, investment projects, and regulatory initiatives.
- Serve as a cross-functional coordinator for major business initiatives involving Production, Purchasing, Sales, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Supply Chain, and other relevant functions.
- Evaluate the business, operational, and financial implications of key strategic initiatives and provide recommendations to management.
- Support feasibility assessments and strategic evaluations for new investments, business expansion, partnerships, and other major corporate initiatives.
- Lead the company’s U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tax credit strategy and implementation, including Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credits.
- Lead and coordinate the end-to-end IRA tax credit process, including eligibility assessment, credit calculations, supporting documentation, registration, reporting, due diligence, and credit transfer or monetization activities in partnership with Tax, Finance, Legal, and external advisors.
- Develop strategies to maximize applicable IRA tax credit benefits while maintaining compliance with U.S. tax laws, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain management reporting, forecasts, and tracking mechanisms for IRA tax credit generation, utilization, monetization, risks, and financial impact.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to IRA tax credits and evaluate potential strategic, operational, supply chain, and financial impacts on the company.
- Identify and escalate changes in business operations, production, supply chain, or regulatory requirements that may impact IRA tax credit eligibility or financial benefits.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, Corporate Headquarters, external tax advisors, auditors, legal counsel, and other professional service providers regarding IRA tax credit matters.
- Establish and maintain appropriate processes, documentation, and internal controls to support the accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness of IRA tax credit claims.
- Manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously, monitor project progress, deliverables, risks, and key milestones, and communicate significant issues and recommendations to management.
- Support ad-hoc strategic analyses and special projects requested by executive management.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
- Demonstrated experience developing business plans, forecasts, strategic analyses, and executive-level management reporting.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Experience evaluating financial and operational data to identify business risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Experience developing business cases, scenario analyses, feasibility assessments, or investment evaluations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate recommendations and complex business information to management and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple strategic priorities and projects with limited direction.
- Demonstrated experience leading, developing, or providing direction to team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Accounting, Economics, Strategy, or a related discipline preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in business planning, corporate strategy, strategic planning, finance, accounting, business management, or a related function, including experience leading complex projects or initiatives.
- Experience in the battery, automotive, advanced manufacturing, or energy industry.
- Knowledge or experience related to U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tax credits, particularly Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credits, preferred.
- Experience supporting tax credit eligibility, documentation, compliance, audit readiness, or monetization activities.
- Experience partnering with Tax, Finance, Accounting, Legal, external auditors, tax advisors, or other professional service providers.
- Experience working within a global organization, with international Corporate Headquarters, or across multinational business operations.
- Experience supporting executive management and preparing business analyses or presentations for senior leadership.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Primarily works in an office environment with periodic interaction with manufacturing and operational areas.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, with periodic standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering designated manufacturing areas.
- May require domestic and international travel to support business initiatives, Corporate Headquarters, external advisors, customers, partners, or other company locations.
- May require work outside normal business hours to support executive management, Corporate Headquarters, global teams, project deadlines, regulatory requirements, or other business needs.
