JOB DESCRIPTION

Second shift: Monday through Thursday, 3:00pm to 1:30am

First shift training: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Summary/Objective 

The CNC machinist operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. The CNC machinist performs set up tasks, loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.


Essential Functions

1.    Creates part identification tags

2.    Recognizes and loads correct tooling into lathe, mill, or 5 axis 

3.    Describes correct tool data from set up sheet

4.    Teach tool offsets

5.    Loads fixtures/work holding

6.    Sets up and edits bar feeder when applicable

7.    Finds work piece coordinates

8.    Cycles and measures first piece

9.    Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.

Required Education and Experience

1.    High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school.

2.    Minimum three years of related experience.

3.    Ability to read blue prints and use measuring tools


Preferred Education and Experience

1.    Mazak milling and turning centers using Fusion

2.    Matrix or Matrix II controls (Mazatrol and G-Code programming)


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to  moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. 


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will need to lift up to 50lbs.
