Product/Application Engineer – Grand Rapids, Michigan

 

DISHER is currently partnering with a growing company specializing in hydronic radiant heating solutions in their search for a Product/Application Engineer. The Product/Application Engineer is a pivotal member of the team, responsible for delivering technical expertise and shaping product designs that enhance the application and performance of hydronic products in the marketplace.

What you will get to do:
  • Design and develop products that meet market objectives in collaboration with sales and manufacturing teams.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including bills of material, product drawings, application notes, and industry trend information.
  • Ensure all products and installations comply with applicable industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Develop, manage, and track project timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Conduct product testing and failure investigations to identify, diagnose, and resolve product issues.
  • Source required components, verifying that they meet technical specifications and cost targets to support profitability.
  • Oversee manufacturing operations to ensure proper product documentation is followed and products meet customer quality standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the product lifecycle to maintain and enhance product competitiveness.
  • Support the sales team by performing application analyses for customer requirements and preparing technical proposals.
  • Travel as needed to supplier and customer sites to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and deliver presentations.


What will make you successful:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in product or application engineering, preferrably within an HVAC or plumbing company.
  • Experience with hydronic systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
  • Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks for designing and creating technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and relevant software used for performance analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interface with customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and collaborate successfully within a team environment.
