Summary: Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Work to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies. Support UCC philosophy focused on facilitating the growth of the organization, continually improving quality, and driving to a world class safety environment.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

 Project Management

  • Establish and maintain the functional and processing requirements for major capital equipment.
  • Create layouts and floor plans in Auto Cad.
  • Review process and workflow.
  • Lead design and project review meetings.
  • Develop quotation specifications.
  • Deliver the benefits versus costs analysis.
  • Implementation and installation management.
  • Coordinate skill trades contractors.
  • Provide project status reports and milestone updates.
  • Control expenditures within limitations of the project budget.
  • Punch list development.
  • Project completion and validation.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Direct integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Track project plan timeline and action items; report to individual or group project updates for several projects at any given time.
  • Contribute to programs and/or methods to reduce variation; optimize productivity and overall costs.
  • Assure process or product adheres to the company quality program.
  • Work alternate shifts as needed to support all areas of production.

 Leadership

  • Lead cross functional project teams during the preliminary scoping, design, execution and commissioning of capital projects.
  • Hold team members accountable for delivery of assigned tasks.
  • Team member on cross functional teams.
  • Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting organization managers.
  • Assign and oversee project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
  • Follow UCC Quality System-approved work instructions and procedures and help improve these as needed.
  • Responsible for successful facilitation of all company safety policies and procedures.

 

Preferred Experience, Training, and Skills:

  • Three+ experience in project management of capital engineering projects.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Completion focused.
  • Proficient in Auto CAD 2D and 3D software (Solid Works).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work self-directed and make sound engineering and design decisions.
  • Ability to lead teams and effectively communicate and influence individuals who are not direct reports.
  • Ability to multi-task successfully.
  • Control system design and programming experience.

 

Physical Requirements: Travel up to 25%, more during project execution, including internationally.

 

Preferred Education / Credentials: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • PE License.
