Job Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with design and analysis of structures or structural elements, providing contract administrative duties associated with the project, routine correspondence, field dimensioning, and meeting project schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the development, preparation, and finalization of project documents.
Responsible for contract administration duties, such as responding to RFI’s, and checking shop drawings / submittals.
Designs load-bearing structures or structural elements.
Performs analysis of building materials for use in construction.
Develops plans and specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations.
Determines cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations.
Provides reports detailing investigations and assessment of damages to the structure.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field.
3 – 6 years' experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Understands project plans and specifications
Seeks guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards
Open to feedback and flexible to change
Strong prioritization and organizational skills, detail-oriented
Proficient with various structural design software (RISA Suite, Enercalcs, MS Excel)
Earns trust and takes additional ownership of projects, results and customer service
Confidently presents self to internal stakeholders and external customers
Takes responsibility for many vendor and customer relationships
Understands jobsite environment and reviews jobsite progress with little to no supervision
Ability to lead an assignment/special project from start to finish
Makes decisions independently depending on level of complexity
Ability to be strategic/think critically and analytically
Ability to navigate and mitigate risk
Initiates and maintains relationships with key staff and other departments
Contributes to the company above and beyond project(s)
Assist in development/mentoring of Level 1

Structural Project Engineer
