Controls & AutomationEngineer

ControlsEngineering 

  

  • Maintaintheintegrity, reliability, and performance of machine and equipment control systemsacrossthe campus. 

  • Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems. 

  • Develop, maintain, and modify: 

  • PLC programs (Rockwell SLC 500, Logix 5000, Siemens Step 7) 

  • Ladder logic and function block programming 

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systemsinterfacingwithPLCs and MS SQL databases, includingIgnitionplatforms. 

  • Review, diagnose, and troubleshootexisting control programs in response toproduction, maintenance, orcustomer-relatedissues. 

  

AutomationEngineering 

  

  • Plan, design, and coordinateautomationsolutionsfor new and existingmanufacturingequipment. 

  • Lead full automationsystemintegrationincluding: Robotics, Visionsystems, Servo motioncontrol,Automated material handlingsystems. 

  • Develop and implementstandardizedautomationarchitecturestoimprovescalability, reliability, and long-termmaintainability. 

  • Support digital manufacturinginitiatives, including data collectionstrategies and systemconnectivitytoenterpriseplatformssuch as MES systems, SQL databases, and reportingtools. 

  

Electrical & SystemDesign 

  

  • Developequipmentspecificationswithemphasisonelectrical and controlssystems. 

  • Create and reviewelectricalschematics, panel layouts, and control cabinetdesignsfor new and modifiedequipment. 

  • Support PC systems, servers, industrial networking, and communicationsinfrastructure, including serial/parallelnetworks, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, and relatedprotocols. 

 

OperationalSupport & ContinuousImprovement 

  

  • Collaboratecloselywithproduction and maintenanceteamstosupportdailyoperations and drive long-term performance improvements. 

  • Identify and implementautomation and controlsenhancementstoimprove safety, quality, uptime, and overalloperationalefficiency. 

  • Mentor and trainmaintenance and engineeringpersonneloncontrols and automationsystems. 

  • Complete allrequired training as mandatedby Adient and itscustomers. 

  • Performadditionalduties as assignedbytheEngineering Manager. 

 

Qualifications 

  

  • BachelorofScience in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, Automation, Mechatronics, orrelatedfield) required. 

  • Non-degree candidates may be consideredwith 7+ yearsofrelevantmanufacturingcontrols and automationexperience. 

  • Minimumof 5 yearsofmanufacturingexperience, preferablywithin automotive orotherhigh-volumemanufacturingenvironments. 

 

TechnicalExpertise: 

  

  • PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens) 

  • SCADA development and maintenance (Ignitionpreferred) 

  • MS SQL and data-drivenautomation 

  • Industrial networking and communications 

  • Robotics and automatedsystemsintegration 

  • Electricaldesign and documentation 

  • Python programminglanguage

Requirements

1st Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (weekend work may be required based on overtime needs).

Must be available for on-call support after regular shift hours and participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule.
