The RN is responsible for the provision and coordination of patient centered care. The RN coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes, participates inpatient and family teaching and provides leadership by delegating and working cooperatively and collaboratively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice and professional nursing performance in the clinical setting. The RN is also accountable to practice in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1978, Article 15 (Health Occupations), Part 172 (Nursing) and the Holland Hospital Professional Nursing Practice Handbook. The RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area.

Pay Range: $34.00 - $49.18/hour

Employment Type: Part Time, 40 hours every 2 weeks.
Schedule:  8–12-hour shifts, includes on call requirement with 30-minute response time.
Requirements: Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing Program required, Current Michigan RN license (or completed by the end of orientation) required, Current BLS and ACLS for the Healthcare Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire) required.

Nursing Process

ASSESSMENT / DIAGNOSIS, OUTCOMES/PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION, & EVALUATION

  • Using the best practice, collects and documents comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation with special attention to the procedure the patient is to have done.

  • Assessments are to be thorough, timely and accurate and at times require prompt treatment with immediate reassessment to gauge next appropriate response utilizing critical thinking skills.

  • Assessments include but are not limited to the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, safety and spiritual needs of patient / patient support system.

  • Demonstrates ability to use critical thinking skills to analyze assessment data to determine the pertinent issues.

  • Responds promptly and appropriately to the changing needs of patients, especially in response to emergency/life threatening situations.

  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation as needed.

  • Documents proficiently and effectively per procedural protocols encompassing all aspects of care and needs specific to patient and situation.

  • Demonstrates the ability to identify evaluate, and document patients response to care given.

  • Coordinates care across the continuum to meet the identified and anticipated needs of the patient and their support network.

  • Identifies needs post-procedure and begins discharge teaching as applicable.

  • Functions as advocate for patient/significant other.

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and adjust care as situation warrants including all aspects of procedure care.

  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate and adjust as needed and document patients progress while under the care of the cardiovascular lab team toward attainment of optimal outcomes.

LEADERSHIP

  • Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.

  • Appropriately directs and supervises less skilled personnel in the performance of delegated nursing activities.

  • Functions as a patient advocate coordinating patient care, involving other members of the health care team as appropriate.

  • Actively participates in or supports, on a regular basis, one or more of the following shared governance activities such as: Unit Practice Team; unit-based nursing QI activities; unit-based nursing research activities; other hospital defined professional nursing committees).
