The Caring Place (@Miami Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for “at-risk” youth.

We are currently seeking a FT Emergency Services Supervisor at Broward Outreach Centers in Hollywood, FL,

JOB SUMMARY

The Emergency Services Supervisor (ESS) reports to the Assistant Centers Director (ACD) and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Services Department to include supervising the department staff and direct services to clients as needed. The ESS will represent The Caring Place at meetings concerning contracted services as directed by the Emergency Services Manager or Centers Director. The ESS will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Centers Director with compiling timely outcome reports per program guidelines and requirements, timecards, staff schedules, HMIS and other duties as assigned by Assistant Centers Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the Emergency Services Department/Client Resources Center at assigned Center
  • Handles discipline of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Leads, trains and evaluates staff 

CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updates HMIS database accurately and in a timely manner to generate correct information for reports
  • Uses independent judgment to recognize and identify symptoms of common mental illnesses, co-occurring, and substance abuse
  • Reviews case files with direct reports and keeps Assistant Centers Director informed
  • Addresses performance issues in a timely manner and maintains a professional relationship with staff
  • Communicates professionally and with compassion when dealing with staff and clients, while maintaining a calm demeanor
  • Leads by exemplary Christian testimony, and represents the Mission with community partners in a professional manner.
  • Submits monthly billing and report outcomes to Assistant Centers Director
  • Ensures that case activities are updated on a daily/weekly basis
  • Leads staff file peer reviews of care plans to determine quantity and quality of care, and keeps Assistant Centers Director informed
  • Oversees the Client Resource Center to ensure that student activities are monitored, evaluations are up-to-date, and the confidentiality of each student's progress is maintained
  • Seeks out and maintains relationships with community resources that can benefit clients
  • Links clients with community resources
  • Ensures that Case Managers link clients with resources and documents case files in a timely manner
  • Attends graduations and meetings with community partners as requested
  • Oversees the resolution of emergency situations occurring within the building on weeknights, weekends, and holidays when needed
  • Oversees fire drills/alarms and elevator alarms within the building, as well as securing the building during periods of extreme weather (i.e. hurricanes)
  • Assists with coordinating street events/outreaches, and provides audio setup for company events
  • Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
  • Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED and Addictions Training and/or Certification; Bachelor’s degree in social work preferred, Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) a plus.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of demonstrated experience working with the homeless population
  • Must be of good moral character, with knowledge of homelessness and addiction issues, and the ability to lead clients by example
  • Must have excellent communication skills to work effectively with all contracted agencies
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment within the general framework of approved case management techniques, existing laws, and within agency guidelines
  • Must have the ability to recognize symptoms of common mental, physical, co-occurring alcohol/substance abuse addictions to make proper assessment for care plans, referrals, and linkage with community resources
  • Must have the ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency
  • Must have competent administrative reporting skills and the ability to multi task.
  • Must be computer literate and have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, and have the ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must also be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
  • Must also be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
