About the Role:

The Therapist provides clinical mental health services to patients admitted to an acute inpatient psychiatric unit. The Therapist conducts psychosocial assessments, Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale and Stanley Brown Discharge Safety Plan, develops individualized treatment plans, facilitates therapeutic groups, and provides individual and family therapy as needed.

Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Therapist supports stabilization, crisis intervention, and discharge planning to promote recovery and continuity of care. Services are delivered in accordance with hospital policies, Florida regulations, and professional ethical standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Intern or Licensed counselor/ Social Worker in the state of Florida
  • BLS Certification American Heart Association 
  • At least 1 year of experience providing therapeutic recreation services in Behavioral health, Psychiatric care, Substance use treatment or Inpatient hospital setting
  • Candidates must demonstrate working knowledge of Therapeutic recreation processes and interventions
  • Group facilitation and therapeutic communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically in acute inpatient psychiatry
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducational or coping skills groups
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented behavioral health models
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish)

 - Excellent communication skills. 
 - Strong ability to work well with a multi-functioning team of clinical staff, case managers, and support staff. 
 - Ability to work on a flexible schedule. 
 - Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. 
 - Strong organizational and time management skills.
