About the Role:

The Security Guard at Larkin Behavioral Health Services plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors within the healthcare facility. This position involves vigilant monitoring of premises to prevent unauthorized access, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and respond promptly to any security incidents or emergencies.

  • Valid security guard license or certification as required by local or state regulations.
  • BLS (AHA) certification.
  • Previous experience in security, preferably within a healthcare or behavioral health environment.
  • Basic knowledge of emergency response procedures and first aid.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs
  • Skilled in operating portable radio devices 
  • Able to enforce security policy and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in behavioral health or mental health care settings.
  • Training in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention.
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including indoor and outdoor areas, to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards.
  • Control access points by verifying identification and authorizing entry to ensure only authorized individuals enter the premises.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, coordinating with emergency responders and healthcare staff as needed.
  • Document and report all security-related incidents, observations, and irregularities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in enforcing facility policies and procedures related to safety, security, and patient confidentiality.
