SLITTER ASSISTANT

ABX Innovative Packaging Solutions is a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging providing critical applications in healthcare, personal care, and food products.  Our growing company is seeking Extrusion and Slitter Helpers in the Homer, LA location. 

Description:

The role will assist in the manufacture of packaging film in Slitting and Bundling Departments and support production.  

Schedule:

8 - 12 Hour Shifts: 8 hour shifts will be the standard and 12 hour shifts will be determined as needed, scheduled 5 days a week Monday through Friday with an occasional Saturday as needed.  

Starting Wage $22.27 per hour, higher depending on related experience.

Job Duties:

• Operates in a safe manner following all company EH&S protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials according to facility's approved management plans and maintaining awareness of job safety at all times.
• Assists machine operators with equipment setup and material handling while ensuring product quality through continuous inspection for defects and adherence to customer specifications. 
• Properly finishes, packages, and prepares products according to customer requirements, including wrapping, capping, labeling, weighing, palletizing, and completing accurate inventory documentation.
• Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with good housekeeping standards and operates lift trucks and other machinery in a manner that minimizes damage to materials.
• Follows all Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Good Manufacturing Practices related to Food Safety while adhering to environmental protocols regarding equipment storage and flammable liquid handling.
• Works efficiently to achieve the highest level of quality in goods produced and services rendered, with a commitment to continuous improvement year after year.
  Initiates ideas and develops proposals for improving quality and reducing costs to enhance competitiveness in the marketplace.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor or shift lead.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in manufacturing preferred, but willing to train.
• Prior Extrusion, Slitting, Printing or Converting experience is a plus.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality is required
