Position Overview: The Assistant Project Manager will participate in the planning, directing, and coordinating of high-voltage electric transmission, substation and distribution of construction and maintenance projects throughout the country. This role involves participating in the conceptual development of these projects and overseeing their organization, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, subcontractors, safety, quality, and implementation.

 

**This position is a traveling role located in the El Paso, TX area**

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Management:
    • Responsible for the lifecycle of a project
      • Track customer issued work authorizations and manage project documents
      • Communicate with field operations team for field review/preparation
      • Manage project schedule and update in accordance with field operations execution plans
      • Assist with budget projections for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractors procured on the project.
      • Submit locates and additional dependencies
      • Coordinate project schedule with Customer including schedule dates, outage information, dependencies, etc.
      • Receive, compile, and review completed project documentation.
    • Support the PM in the development and management of the project Schedule of Values (SOV), update based on production, prepare billing packages, and submit to the customer.
    • Develop project baseline schedule and update running schedule accordingly.

     

  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain electronic and printed files of working documents in accordance with outlined document control practices.
    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly projections and progress reports for all construction activities.
    • Assist in preparing and updating project documentation, including submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
    • Manage & Report project costs against the forecasted budget and report findings to leadership.

     

  • Stakeholder Communication and Issue Resolution:
    • Communicate with supervisory personnel, subcontractors, or engineers to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
    • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
  • Material and Quality Management:
    • Maintain project material trackers based on customer Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, and scope. Track inventories, production, shortages, and damages
    • Execute corrective actions to address delays, adverse weather conditions, or emergencies.

    Qualifications:

    • Technical Proficiency: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly strong Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Multi-tasking Ability: Must be able to handle various tasks simultaneously and prioritize work effectively.
    • Adaptability: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, switch directions as needed and demonstrate adaptability.
    • Education: A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or business, or a trade school certificate is preferred or equivalent years of experience.
    • Compliance: Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screenings.

     

    Physical Demands:

     

    • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
    • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Navigate uneven terrain at job sites
    • Use hands to handle tools, materials, and equipment
    • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as required
    • Climb ladders and stairs
    • Work at elevated heights when necessary
    • Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
    • Maintain visual awareness sufficient to safely operate tools and equipment
