Job DetailsJob Location: HONESDALE, PA 18431Salary Range: $17.00 - $19.00 HourlyTitle: Food Services Operations Manager Department: Food Services Reports To: Food Services Manager Position Details: Full Time | 40 Hours per Week | 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM   At the Himalayan Institute Retreat Center, food is an important part of the guest experience. We are looking for a Food Services Operations Manager who enjoys leading people, creating organized systems, and helping a busy kitchen and dining operation run smoothly. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will oversee staffing, scheduling, purchasing, inventory, vendors, food safety, and daily meal-service operations while working closely with our Food Services Manager. We expect approximately 20% of your time to be spent cooking and directly supporting food operations. We are looking for someone who leads by example and is comfortable stepping in wherever needed, including cooking, serving, or helping in the dishroom. What You’ll Do: Coordinate staff schedules and daily Food Services operations Supervise, coach, and support the entire team Oversee purchasing, receiving, inventory, and vendor relationships Partner with the Food Services Manager on menus and production planning Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness Help manage costs, reduce waste, and improve systems Support retreat groups, special events, and changing guest needs Cook and assist in other Food Services roles as needed You’ll Be a Great Fit If You: Lead with warmth, clarity, and accountability Enjoy both managing people and working alongside them Are organized, proactive, and comfortable solving problems Have practical cooking and food-preparation experience Care about hospitality and the guest experience Communicate well and enjoy working across teams What We’re Looking For: Food services, hospitality, or culinary management experience Experience with scheduling, purchasing, inventory, and staff supervision ServSafe Manager certification, or ability to obtain it Comfort with computers, spreadsheets, and basic accounting systems Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds Experience with vegetarian food service, retreat centers, food-cost management, or process improvement is a plus.
