- Position Summary
The Audio Visual (AV) Coordinator is responsible for managing all audio and visual services on campus, including the technical aspects of events, collaborating with stakeholders, hiring and training staff, and staying up-to-date with new technologies. The post holder must have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage their team and prioritize tasks. This role is critical to ensure high-quality audio and visual support for events and performances and enhance the educational and cultural experience of the university community.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical (75% of work time)
- Ensure seamless execution of events through accurate and prompt setup, operation and breakdown of AV equipment
- Deliver, setup and operate projectors, video screens, laptops, web and conference cameras, PA systems, media switches and other related media technologies for events and functions such as meetings, presentations, and/or conferences
- Advise and assist with the design and installation of any AV equipment on campus
- Meet with end-users on site to ensure their AV requirements are met and equipment is set up properly
- Be AV lead and support for events involving Audio Visual
- Deliver, setup and operate projectors, video screens, computers, web, media switches, and other related media technologies for classroom use
- Repair and maintenance of AV systems
- Create, maintain, and catalog technical system documents
- Create and maintain relationships with vendors
- Coordinate equipment repairs and replacement with vendors as needed
- Provide technical assistance and walk-through support for AV systems to end-users
- Performs proactive AV technology reviews and preventative maintenance as required in event spaces, conference rooms, etc to ensure accurate implementation and operational support
- Manage inbound AV requests
- Provides clients with basic instruction in hardware and software use
- Hire, train, and supervise employees and student workers
Other responsibilities (25% of work time)
- Provide walk-in AV assistance to students, faculty, and staff
- Provide one-on-one end-user AV resolution via phone, in-person and or through email for students, faculty, and staff
- Identify problems which must be escalated and refer them to the appropriate person within Information Technologies and Support
- Stay up to date on Audio Visual technology and advancement
- Assist in creating documentation to maximize degree of self-help for students, staff, and faculty
- Assist other members of the Chaminade IT team when required

- Education and Experience
Minimum
Associates Degree or 4 years of relevant experience, including customer service. Supervisory experience.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in audiovisual technology, event management or a related field or 6 years of relevant experience, including customer service
- Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work and build a positive relationship with individuals at all levels of the university
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent project management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and resources and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to meet deadlines
- In depth knowledge of audio and video equipment and technologies
- Experience setting up AV equipment for various events
- Experience using video teleconferencing platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet)
- Familiar with audio and visual room control systems (Extron, Kramer, etc)
- Physical Requirements
Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
- Other Requirements:
- This is a full time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes will also be required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends on a varying schedule, with minimal notice
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor
