Job Title: Front of House Manager Status: Exempt/Salary


Under the direction of the General Manager, the Front of House (FOH) Manager is responsible for overseeing all guest-facing operations at Genki Diner, with an exceptional guest experience as the top priority. This role leads FOH staff, maintains service standards, and ensures smooth day-to-day operations while upholding the brand’s commitment to quality, hospitality, and the spirit of aloha in a fast-paced, modern diner environment.


General Duties:

  • Oversee daily front-of-house operations including dining room service, host stand, and guest relations 
  • Lead, train, and supervise FOH team members to deliver consistent, high-quality service 
  • Ensure a welcoming, clean, and organized environment aligned with Genki Diner’s brand standards 
  • Manage guest feedback and resolve concerns promptly and professionally 
  • Coordinate with BOH (Back of House) to ensure seamless service flow 
  • Uphold company policies, procedures, and service standards

 

Essential Duties:

  • Supervise service during operating hours to ensure efficiency and guest satisfaction 
  • Monitor staffing levels and adjust schedules based on business needs 
  • Train and mentor staff on service techniques, menu knowledge, and hospitality standards 
  • Handle guest complaints and escalations with professionalism and urgency 
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate goals, specials, and service expectations 
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations 
  • Track and report on key performance metrics (labor, sales, guest satisfaction) 
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of FOH staff 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, restrooms, and service stations 
  • Support promotional activities and special events

 

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills 
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution abilities 
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, service flow, and hospitality standards 
  • Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant management software 
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a high-volume environment 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Cultural awareness and ability to deliver service aligned with the spirit of aloha 
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail 
  • Basic financial acumen (labor control, sales tracking, cost awareness)

 

Working Hours/Conditions:

  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays 
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak business periods 
  • Fast-paced, high-energy restaurant environment 
  • Frequent interaction with guests, staff, and management 
  • Indoor work environment with moderate noise levels

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours) 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds (e.g., supplies, trays) 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the dining area 
  • Ability to maintain stamina and composure during busy service periods

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience (FOH preferred) 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or business degree preferred 
  • Strong understanding of customer service excellence in a dining environment 
  • Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) 
  • Alcohol service certification (if applicable per Hawaii regulations) 
  • Ability to lead diverse teams and foster a positive work culture 
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
