Overview

Youth Engagement Transportation Specialists will support the travel to and from Liliʻuokalani Center for kamaliiʻi on Oʻahu and throughout the paeʻāina. They will be a critical part of the Engagement Center team, which is designed to offer resources and services to decrease barriers to access and provide the first and last connection during a program day for traveling kamaliʻi. Along with driving, the Specialists will assist with all transportation logistics to include communication with kamaliʻi, ʻohanas, and LC teammates about logistics and transitions. The Youth Engagement Specialist positions will primarily plan and implement shuttle service for weekday evening and Saturday programs at LC, seasonally, they will also support flight travel to and from neighbor islands for kamaliʻi that fly to Oʻahu for intensive programs and events.  

 

Liliʻuokalani Center

Informed by a deep understanding of the adolescent experience and grounded in Hawaiian culture, the new Liliʻuokalani Center provides Native Hawaiian youth with opportunities to connect with peers and mentors, access supportive services, and explore pathways to passion, purpose, and prosperity. As the newest initiative of Liliʻuokalani Trust, the Center serves as a vibrant youth hub where kamaliʻi can learn, play, and build connections.

The Liliʻuokalani Center is a safe, pro-social space where youth are inspired to pursue their dreams through the arts, sports, technology, life readiness, and wellness while receiving wraparound supports that help them reach their goals and thrive.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Kamaliʻi Recruitment and Wellness Team to provide support for transportation to and from LC
  • Work directly with youth involved in programming, providing support under the direction of the Kamaliʻi Recruitment and Wellness Team
  • Drive LT’s 11-passenger vans to provide transportation that allows kamaliʻi to access LC programs
  • Build and sustain trusting relationships with youth, ensuring that engagement strategies are rooted in authentic rapport that encourages participation, fosters belonging, and supports the overall success of LC programs
  • Assist with program planning, implementation and monitoring; this will include the facilitation of transportation services
  • Assist with the opening, closing, and monitoring of facilities
  • Assist with the planning of transportation logistics
  • Provide administrative support as needed, ensuring efficient coordination and documentation of program-related activities

 

Other duties:

  • Contribute to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and collaborating as we strive to attain the Trust's strategic goals
  • Participate in continuing education and training opportunities for professional development
  • Evening and weekend hours required
  • Other duties as needed and assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience offering transportation services.  
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience working with youth and youth programming.
  • Capacity to perform work in different settings (schools, public spaces, office, distressed communities, etc.)
  • Able to drive long distances and provide safe transportation to and from LC for youth
  • Valid driver’s license, clean traffic abstract 
  • TB clearance
