Job Description:

Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands‑on training and professional experience as a Systems Engineer (SE) Fellow, supporting the U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR‑AF) mission within the III Armored Corps Sensor Integration & Data Fusion Lab (SID‑FL) at West Fort Hood, TX.

In this Fellowship, the participant will gain exposure to multi‑enclave data architectures, sensor‑integration workflows, cloud‑computing environments, AI/ML testing processes, and technical laboratory operations supporting emerging Army data‑centric capabilities. The Fellow will train alongside experienced systems engineers, architects, and data‑integration specialists to develop foundational expertise in sensor data flows, cross‑domain solutions, enterprise IT environments, and structured lab operations.

The Systems Engineer (SE) Fellow will learn how new intelligence, sensor, and data‑fusion technologies are evaluated, integrated, and validated—while contributing to scenario support, data‑flow assessments, technical documentation, and structured laboratory events that enable innovation for the Army's Eastern Front Deterrence Initiative (EFDI).

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER (SE) FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Participate in structured training focused on multi‑enclave (IL2–IL6) system architectures, data‑flow design, and enterprise IT concepts.

  • Support supervised sensor‑integration activities involving UAS, HAPS, and ground‑based platforms while learning how emerging sensors interface with the Army’s Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA).

  • Gain hands‑on exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and learn how cloud services enable data‑driven military operations.

  • Assist with configuring, observing, and maintaining middleware, data‑fabric components, and API‑based integrations under senior engineer guidance.

  • Participate in cross‑domain solution (CDS) testing events and learn principles for validating secure data movement between enclaves.

  • Train alongside AI/ML practitioners to observe algorithm testing, evaluation methodologies, and real‑world sensor‑data workflows.

  • Contribute to project‑support activities, including schedule tracking, preparation for Soldier Touch Points, and creation of technical briefing materials.

  • Assist in supervised test & evaluation (T&E) activities, learning how sensor and system performance metrics (latency, accuracy, bandwidth) are measured and analyzed.

  • Support development of technical documentation, integration notes, and emerging Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), aligned with lab training objectives.

  • Help develop data‑driven visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Palantir Foundry under instructor guidance.

  • Participate in knowledge‑management activities, helping maintain repositories of test artifacts, integration guides, and training resources.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical field; OR an equivalent combination of military experience, technical training, and certifications.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in systems integration, enterprise IT, data engineering, or related technical fields within the DoW or Intelligence Community.

  • Experience with sensor systems, cloud environments, or multi‑enclave operations is highly beneficial.

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • Familiarity with TypeScript, Python, or SQL.

  • Understanding of JSON, XML, networking fundamentals, and API workflows.

  • Exposure to military intelligence or sensor platforms (EO/IR, SIGINT, RADAR) is a plus.

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or infrastructure‑as‑code tools preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate within collaborative technical environments.

Role Requirements:

  • Active Secret security clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • On‑site attendance at customer site in Fort Hood, TX

  • Fellowship duration aligned with DoW SkillBridge requirements.
