Description

 The Charge Nurse is responsible for the 24-hour operations of the Emergency Room, which includes, but not limited to programmatic, operational and financial management functions. In accordance with the objectives and policies of the hospital, the charge nurse is responsible for assuring the nursing process is implemented effectively by evaluating the plan of care as well as the quality of care delivered by personnel assigned to that nursing unit. Leads the department in a manner which positively impacts the patient experience through staff training, accountability standards, and service excellence demonstrated in all interactions. Collaborates in the organization wide health-care delivery system and process design. Works collaboratively with physicians, and other department heads to assure compliance with professional and regulatory standards of care and practice. Actively participates as a part of St. James Hospital (SJH) nursing leadership. The Emergency Department Charge RN reports directly to the ED Manager/Director of Nursing

Requirements

 

  • Bachelors' of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing within 10 years of graduation. 
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a RN in the Emergency department and two (2) years in a nursing supervisor or charge role preferred. 

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Current NYS RN License
  • Current ACLS, PALS - preferred, required within probation period (180 d
