POSITION – Union: Meter Reader Collector - Seasonal

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 3

LOCATION: NY – Hornell, NY

HOURLY RATE: $27.38

Responsibilities

  • Read and record electric meter indexes into computerized handheld systems.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely meter readings of electric and gas meters.

  • Report hazardous conditions, meter tampering and meter conditions.

  • Timely completion of assignments.

  • Assist in ensuring data integrity and customer satisfaction.

  • Adhere to safety policies and practices.

  • Maintain current meter location records and maps.

  • Responsible for protection and maintenance of all assigned company equipment.

  • Work field collections.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be willing to work in various weather conditions including heat/cold, rain and snow.

  • Must be willing to work extra hours as required, including storm work.

  • Must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must successfully complete background check, drug screen and audiogram.

  • Must be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Must be able to complete physically demanding tasks on a daily basis.

  • Previous experience as a meter reader or experience driving a company vehicle a plus but not a requirement.
