POSITION SUMMARY
Functions as the operational link between the Program’s Operational Plan, Administrative Staff, and Component Specialists and the assigned Program Units and to support the staff in the accomplishment of their duties.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
1. Continually support staff in focusing on the program’s vision, philosophy, goals and objectives.
2. Ensure and coordinate programmatic training and staff development activities, and monitoring and communication necessary to assure a resource and support system necessary to operate Head Start Center Units. .
3. Train, supervise, and support four to six lead teachers and assigned Center Staff to maintain programmatic effectiveness and continuity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible to the Head Start Director for the accomplishment of the Head Start goals as described in the Program Plans.
2. Support the center staff in the accomplishment of their duties by encouraging, reinforcing, modeling helping skills, assisting in problem solving, linking to resources, curriculum support, etc. on a continual basis.
3. Ensure a Professional Development Record is maintained for each staff member. Coordinate individualized staff training for each staff member. Provide direct, individual, and group training as necessary. Ensure each staff member knows and understands the program philosophy, strategy and work program through individual and group staff interactions.
5. Provide input into planning, program development, decision-making, problem solving, and establishing programmatic goals.
6. Maintain a system of program accountability that meets Head Start and PA Keystone Stars standards.
7. Participate in the weekly meeting with other Area Supervisors
8. Maintain open communication between center and central staff.
9. Responsible for supervision and monitoring of assigned Head Start Center Units.
10. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, in regard to accessing Protected Health Information, according to the Table of Access contained in the HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual. Employees access is on a “need to know” basis.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR SKILLS
1. Bachelor’s in Early Childhood, Human Services or related field.
2. Two (2) years experience in a family oriented development program, and one (1) year supervisory experience.
3. Willing to leave home for short periods of training.
4. Valid PA driver’s license and mandatory car insurance.
5. Act 33 and 34 clearances.
REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO SAFELY PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION OF AREA SUPERVISOR. Physical requirements - Push/pull, lift/move up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity - Perform moderately difficult manipulation - typing, filing, and writing. Coordination - Perform tasks that require foot and/or hand/eye coordination - driving a car, typing data entry. Mobility - walk, stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, drive. Speech - Articulate with extreme accuracy - employee/client relations, phone contact. Vision - Read small print and drive a car. Hearing - Receive verbal instructions, answer phones, intercom, communicate with employees. Concentration – Be able to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption. Attention span - Able to attend to task function for more that 60 minutes. Conceptualization - Able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts. Memory – Is able to remember multiple verbal and written task-assignments given at beginning of a period extending over long period of time. Environment Conditions - Indoor/outdoor work.
