Under the direct supervision of the Chef, the Bugler Utility Cook position includes prepping, cooking, placing stock in proper storage areas, rotating stock, cleaning and maintaining work areas and kitchens, and overall production for the Bugler.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Bugler Utility Cook is responsible for prepping, cooking, placing stock in proper storage areas, rotating stock, cleaning and maintaining work areas and kitchens, and overall production for all Food & Beverage venues.  Always presents a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino.  The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of foods, quantities, styles, according to the established recipe, menu and demand of the business.
  • Uses proper knife skills, cooking techniques, cooking methods and terminology.
  • Reads, understands and follows standardized recipes when preparing all foods for all food venues and outlets.
  • Understands and follows through with all assigned tasks.
  • Communicates with all Chefs.
  • Maintains and communicates food/product needs to ensure safe par levels and proper stock levels.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized and sanitized work area all while following all company, state and federal health/food safety regulations and codes.
  • Responsible for making sure that all areas of their assigned venue/outlet/kitchen are taken care of and all assigned duties are completed.
  • Ensuring that all venues are completely ready to open by designated time set by management.
  • Responsible for all food/storage areas (refrigeration, freezer, and dry storage) are kept clean, organized, labeled and dated.
  • Responsible for all equipment, tools, floors, work stations and food prep areas are kept clean and organized; as well as free from all clutter, trash and non-approved items.
  • Responsible for being able to communicate well with team members while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
  • Remains up-to-date on property events and hours of operation
  • May be assigned to various venues throughout the property depending on business needs.
  • Cooperates and communicates with all fellow team members, always exhibiting mutual respect and consistently projecting a positive, helpful image/attitude.
  • Makes efforts to keep informed of company information and communications by participating in department meetings, huddles and reviewing property bulletin boards, digital signage, and company newsletter.
  • Assists other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department
  • Maintains an attitude & philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal & external guests
  • Regular punctual attendance
  • Ability to work required overtime
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 years cooking experience
  • 1+ years guest service experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                     

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
