Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Logistics Specialist (Emergency Department Administrative Assistant), you will be responsible for overall communications and flow within the Emergency Department, working closely with ED nursing and physician leadership to assist with movement and throughput for all ED patients.Every day you will serve as the primary voice for the ED, requiring proficiency in handling multiple phone calls efficiently and effectively, often under stressful conditions.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills, a high degree of proficiency in managing multiple simultaneous tasks, and the ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, directly contributing to efficient patient flow within the Emergency Department.

  • Answering and directing large number of phone calls to Emergency Department, including physician and professional calls regarding transfers, admissions, and consultations, answering patient emergency call systems, and activating emergency notification systems for the entire facility.
  • Facilitate transfers of patients to and from outside facilities including printing/copying/scanning patient documents.
  • Facilitate flow by placing admissions within bed placement system.
  • Scan patient charges and maintain and order department supplies, office and form supplies, nourishment, etc. Ordering specialty supplies for trauma department and physicians.
  • Maintain department statistics for quality, safety, and regulatory needs.
  • Scan patient documents into electronic medical record. Provide Health Information Management services after hours for emergency department patients.
