Job Description / Responsibilities Form

Quality Assurance Inspector

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Select jobs from active production schedules and verify parts and routers against drawings and operation plans (OPs).
  • Set up gauges as required by the job, OP, and customer specifications, and clock in and out for labor tracking.
  • Conduct mold and first-part inspections, recording results on log sheets in accordance with the OP.
  • Verify that all overlay revisions are current, approved, and documented before production.
  • Perform receiving inspections to confirm that incoming materials and parts meet specifications.
  • Review and finalize job packets, ensuring all forms and documentation are complete and ready for final approval under QHSE procedures.
  • Report inspection results, nonconformances, and deviations promptly to the QA Lead or QHSE Manager.
  • Maintain inspection-area cleanliness and tool organization, storing gauges and measuring instruments properly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to quality procedures, company policies, and customer requirements.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent on-the-job training (OJT).

SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, operation plans, and customer specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate inspections and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills for logging inspection results and reviewing production records.
  • Effective communication for reporting findings to the QA Lead, QHSE Manager, and production personnel.
  • Ability to follow established procedures while maintaining accountability for assigned inspections.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, compliance standards, and audit requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand or walk for extended periods on the production floor.
  • Handle small tools, gauges, and precision measuring devices.
  • Lift and move materials or parts up to 30–40 lbs. as required.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and close vision for precision inspections.
  • Work in a shop/manufacturing environment with moderate noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Stop Work Authority.
  • Steel-toed shoes/boots (shop requirement).
  • Safety glasses (shop requirement).
