The Business Development Engineer - High Temperature is responsible for profitably growing Alleima’s market share in the U.S. and Canada through application-driven business development and deep technical engagement with customers across the value chain. Serving as a technical and commercial bridge between customers, R&D, marketing and sales. The role translates materials science, metallurgy, and process expertise into differentiated solutions that drive customer preference, market expansion, and long-term growth in high-temperature applications. The position engages direct and indirect customers in the value chain, promoting Alleima products and commercial solutions to drive profitable growth. The Business Development Engineer offers technical expertise to customers, conducts business meetings, organizes workshops, and manages projects and orders.The position identifies and quantifies new and existing business opportunities within targeted segments and delivers market intelligence on trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics. Additionally, gaining preference for Alleima products with key customers and end users is central to this role.

Market and Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategic account and segment plans based on application mapping, installed base knowledge, and customer process understanding.
  • Identify, quantify, and prioritize volume, revenue, margin, and lifecycle value opportunities across existing and new customers.
  • Lead opportunity development from early technical engagement through commercial execution, including specification positioning and value justification.
  • Convert new prospects and applications into long-term customers through technical credibility and consultative selling.

Technical Leadership and Customer Engagement

  • Act as a technical advisor to customers on material selection, alloy performance, fabrication considerations, and lifecycle behavior in high-temperature environments.
  • Conduct technical meetings, workshops, and plant visits with engineers, metallurgists, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Support customers with failure analysis insights, upgrade recommendations, and materials optimization in collaboration with R&D and Application Development.
  • Provide technical input on codes, standards, and specifications relevant to high-temperature tubular products.

Portfolio and Market Intelligence

  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, technology shifts, and regulatory changes impacting high-temperature applications (e.g., hydrogen, energy transition, process intensification).
  • Identify gaps and opportunities requiring new alloy development, product modifications, or service offerings.
  • Deliver structured market feedback to Product Management and R&D to guide portfolio evolution and innovation roadmaps.
  • Track competitive materials, suppliers, and substitute technologies with a technical lens.
  • Back up for other accounts as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration related field preferred, Engineering/Materials Science a plus
  • Minimum five years of experience in business development with proven success. Experience in technical sales a plus.
  • Travel requirement: 75%
  • Strong strategic mindset with ability to translate strategy to action
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including talent for delivering engaging presentation
  • Strong technical background in stainless steels tubular products preferred.
  • Ability to effectively navigate complex company structures and engage stakeholders at different levels, including C-level.
  • Strong command of MS Office 365 and CRM systems (Dynamics preferred)
  • Excellent English skills are essential
