JOB SUMMARY

Develops high-quality secondary math curriculum and job-embedded professional learning for grades 6-12, aligned to district standards. Partners with key stakeholders to strengthen instructional practices, ensure coherence across grade levels, and support students in building the skills needed for rigorous, grade-level content and long-term academic success.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Designs and develops job-embedded professional learning aligned to curriculum, including slides, activities, and assessments

2. Supports development of teacher-facing curriculum materials aligned to district instructional expectations

3. Evaluates curriculum for rigor, clarity, and cultural relevance

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

4. Participates in PLC/brain trust sessions to refine curriculum and instructional practices

5. Attends and contributes to TEKS-aligned professional development

6. Collaborate with teachers and leaders to support implementation

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years teaching or district experience

SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION

Software

Oracle

SAP

Microsoft Office

Teacher Certification (preferred)

Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Level 1-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

BUDGET AUTHORITY

No budget development activity is required.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across HISD. Job is frequently expected to recommend new solutions to problems, to improve existing methods/procedures/services and generate new ideas. May also review decisions made by other individuals on more routine matters.

Decisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

Collaborate and solve problems - work with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

Anticipates customer needs, identifies, and champions opportunities for the development and implementation of new services and methods to meet or exceed customer needs. Establishes customer service standards and feedback mechanisms across departments.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
