Job Summary
The GSE Mechanic will comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, local safety policies, and KBR’s Zero Harm program. The mechanic provides Care of Stock in Storage (COSIS) based on preventive maintenance and repair services under the guidance of the GSE Section Supervisor. These maintenance procedures are performed on the Mobile Brigade Combat Team (MBCT) generator and ground support equipment (GSE) fleet, which includes tactical generator sets ranging from 3kW to 60kW in both skid-mounted (3kW, 10kW, 15kW, and 30kW) and trailer-mounted (5kW, 10kW, 15kW, 30kW, and 60kW) configurations, along with other ground support equipment such as the Containerized Kitchen (CK), Multi-Temperature Refrigerated Container System (MTRCS), Forward Repair System (FRS), Armament Repair Shop Set (ARSS), Next Generation Shop Equipment (Contact Maintenance, ORD/ENG), Shop Equipment Automotive Vehicle (SEAV), Modular Fuel System Tank-Rack Module, Load Handling System 2,000-Gallon Water Tank-Rack (HIPPO), rough-terrain forklifts, a Type III skid steer loader, the High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE) Type I, the Mine Clearing Line Charge (MICLIC) trailer-mounted launcher, and Container Roll-In/Roll-Out Platforms (CROP), and other GSE maintained on the APS-4 program.
General maintenance includes, but is not limited to: Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS); general inspections; component repairs and replacement; unscheduled maintenance; and repair of inbound equipment. The mechanic diagnoses and troubleshoots component and system malfunctions, determines required repairs and parts, and completes lubrication orders at the -10 and -20 level.
Detailed maintenance includes inspection, service, and repair of engines, generator heads, voltage regulators, control panels, and load bank systems; removal and replacement of starters, alternators, and batteries; repair of fuel tanks and fuel system components; repair and replacement of engine cooling systems; repair and replacement of Fire Suppression System components where equipped; and repair and replacement of pneumatic and hydraulic systems on associated GSE. The mechanic also performs operational and load-bank testing, equipment washing, fueling/defueling, and maintains accountability for all tools, equipment, and work areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities
Perform Care of Stock in Storage (COSIS), preventive maintenance, and repair services on tactical generator sets (3kW-60kW, skid- and trailer-mounted) and other ground support equipment (GSE) maintained on the APS-4 program.
Maintains and repairs the following generator variants: 3kW Skid-Mounted Generator Set (60Hz); 10kW Skid-Mounted Generator Set (50/60Hz); 15kW Skid-Mounted Generator Set (50/60Hz); 30kW Skid-Mounted Generator Set (50/60Hz); 5kW Trailer-Mounted Generator Set (PU-2001, 50/60Hz); 10kW Trailer-Mounted Generator Set (PU-2002, 50/60Hz); 15kW Trailer-Mounted Generator Set (PP-3003/PU-2101, 50/60Hz); 30kW Trailer-Mounted Generator Set (PP-3105/PU-2102, 50/60Hz); and 60kW Trailer-Mounted Generator Set (PP-3106, 50/60Hz).
Maintains and repairs other GSE including the Containerized Kitchen (CK); Multi-Temperature Refrigerated Container System (MTRCS); Forward Repair System (FRS); Armament Repair Shop Set (ARSS); Next Generation Shop Equipment (Contact Maintenance, ORD/ENG); Shop Equipment Automotive Vehicle (SEAV); Modular Fuel System Tank-Rack Module; Load Handling System 2,000-Gallon Water Tank-Rack (HIPPO); rough-terrain forklifts (4,000-lb and Light Capability Rough Terrain Forklift/LCRTF 5K II); Type III skid steer loader; High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE) Type I; MICLIC trailer-mounted launcher; and Container Roll-In/Roll-Out Platforms (CROP).
Conduct Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) at the -10 and -20 level; perform general inspections, component repairs and replacement, unscheduled maintenance, and repair of inbound equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot component and system malfunctions; determine required repairs and parts; complete lubrication orders.
Inspect, service, and repair generator engines, generator heads, voltage regulators, and control panels; perform load-bank testing and calibration; assist technicians with refrigeration/AC repairs on the MTRCS and other climate-controlled GSE.
Remove and replace starters, alternators, and batteries; maintain and repair fuel tanks and associated fuel system components; repair and replace engine cooling system components.
Repair and replace Fire Suppression System modules, sensors, wiring, and extinguisher bottles where equipped; repair and replace pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components; replace minor components such as fuses, circuit breakers, gauges, and light fixtures.
Perform operational and load-bank testing, equipment washing, and fueling/defueling of generators and GSE.
Maintain and account for all provided and personal tools, equipment, and work areas.
Comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, local safety policies, and KBR’s Zero Harm program.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport.
Ability to provide documentation to qualify as US EXPAT Invited Contractor Status and SOFA Visa IAW USFK 700-19 Regulation.
Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
High School/GED plus five years of directly related work experience in the maintenance and repair of tactical generator sets and ground support equipment (GSE).
In lieu of formal course work, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered.Â
Ability to work from technical manuals, work instructions, and work orders.
Must be able to provide a basic automotive/generator mechanics tool set equal to a General Mechanics Tool Set.
Favorable adjudication of an NACI background check.
Ability to use generator/GSE maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, and relevant technical and parts manuals.
Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, heat and humidity.
Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 35 pounds to shoulder height.
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Required to pass initial and periodic medical screening.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
Certification from a vocational school or other recognized source, such as a military service-related Advanced Individual Training with a focus in power generation equipment repair, is preferred. Successful completion of tactical generator or equivalent platform-specific training is also preferred.
EPA Refrigerant/MVAC Technician Certification is not required; however, it is preferred (supports the MTRCS and other refrigerated GSE).
