POSITION SUMMARY
The Assembly & Service Technician is responsible for the assembly, in‑house service, troubleshooting, rebuilding, testing, and field servicing of NETZSCH pumps and related equipment.
This position supports production, service, and warranty activities at the Houston facility and provides professional on‑site field service support as needed. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret drawings and SOPs, and strict adherence to safety, quality, and professional standards in both shop and customer environments.
- Assemble, service, rebuild, troubleshoot and test NETZSCH pumps, skids, baseplates, and mechanical subassemblies per drawing, SOP's, and work instructions.
- Provide technical services, scheduled and unscheduled, to clients relating to set up, use, operation and maintenance of NETZSCH equipment.
- Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, drilling/tapping, inspection, cleaning, and rebuilding of rotating equipment including shafts, bearings, seals and couplings.
- Train Customers and Distributor mechanics of assembly and disassembly procedures for NETZSCH Pumps.
- Support production, service, FATs, customer visits, trade shows, and coordination with engineering parts and service teams.
- Conduct in-house service, repair, warranty evaluations, functional testing, and documentation of findings, corrective actions and test results.
- Diagnose mechanical issue, identify wear or failure modes, and provide feedback to improve reliability, assembly practices and service procedures.
- Safely operate shop equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and hand/power tools while maintaining 5S, quality, and OSHA standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation; follow company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, industrial equipment service, or a related technical role
- Experience with rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, or similar machinery preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to align and rebuild mechanical assemblies to specification
- Basic computer skills for service documentation and reporting
- Communication & Professional Skills
- Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs and work instructions
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable interacting directly with customers and internal teams
- Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of working independently or collaboratively
LICENSES & TRAVEL
- Must be able to travel 50% across United States
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain or maintain a passport (preferred, based on service needs)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and use of hands
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, or working in confined spaces
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Manufacturing and service shop environments with moving mechanical parts
- Exposure to noise, lubricants, fumes, and industrial equipment
- Occasional outdoor and customer‑site working conditions
