POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Engineer supports the design, modification, and commissioning of power system protection and automation schemes. This entry-level role works closely with senior engineering staff to learn design standards, tools, and processes while contributing to project deliverables under close supervision.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in developing substation protection schemes and specifying relays for redundant protection systems.
- Prepare basic engineering drawings, sketches, and documentation under guidance.
- Assist in calculating and programming substation protective relay set points.
- Support commissioning activities by providing field assistance and documentation.
- Learn and apply industry standards and internal design procedures.
- Maintain organized project files and records.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and utility personnel to support project execution.
- Participate in training and mentorship programs to develop technical skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
 REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation preferred.
- Internship or prior related experience preferred.
- 0–2 years of engineering experience in electric utility or power systems.
 SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Basic understanding of electrical theory, power systems, and protective relaying.
- Proficiency in CAD software preferred.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and work under supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
 COMPENSATION
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position with an annual base salary range of $65,000 – $85,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
