Who You Are
 
The Associate Mechatronic Field Engineer will be responsible for providing FANUC America Corporation customers with onsite repair, troubleshooting and / or maintenance services for CNC’s and related peripheral equipment. 
Reporting to our Houston, TX office, the Associate Engineer will provide support to customers in the Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisianna, Arkansas, Colorado and New Mexico with on-site repair, troubleshooting and /or maintenance services for CNC’s and related system peripheral equipment. 
 
How It’s Done
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNCs, servo, spindle drive and motor products
  • Investigate customer complaints and perform analysis to determine the cause(s)
  • Operate with consistent support of Supervisor/Manager
  • Actively participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction
  • Understand and support the company’s goal of exceeding customer expectations while developing effective customer interaction skills
  • Report quality problems to the appropriate manager/supervisor as they are encountered
  • Maintain and manage assigned inventory
  • Learn service operations, procedures and policies, including timely and accurate submission of required paperwork
  • Maintain and care for all company-provided equipment, including tools, to ensure proper functionality
  • Travel as required in accordance with company guidelines, including visiting customer sites with approximately 12–14 overnight stays per month
  • Ability to travel by air as needed for customer visits, training, and company meetings
  • Works under close supervision with clearly defined tasks; collaborates with manager for diagnostics and repairs and frequently partners with senior Field Service Engineers
What You Need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous customer focused experience
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate options and make preliminary engineering decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
  • Effective oral and written communication skills 
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and use of diagnostic tools 
  • Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to drive throughout the organization’s service area for business as required
  • Must be able to legally rent and operate a vehicle in the United States and Canada for business travel purposes
What Would Be Even Better
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, or equivalent experience in a related field; bachelor’s degree or technical school graduate or equivalent background with relevant hands-on technical experience aligned to Associate Engineer competencies
  • More than 2 years' experience working in a Mechatronics or Electronics customer facing role
