Daniels & Tredennick is a mid-size law firm in Houston, Texas. Our practices include civil trial law, corporate law, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and appellate. Our attorneys come from a variety of backgrounds having been involved in public service, education, large law firms, and boutique personal injury firms. We have grown to almost thirty attorneys. We are seeking a professional, reliable Business Development & Marketing Specialist to join our team. This individual should be bright, motivated, and able to build and mold the marketing and client relations function on both strategic and tactical levels.

The Business Development & Marketing Specialist is responsible for advancing the law firm's brand generally, as well as helping the firm's attorneys build strong relationships with potential new clients. The specialist will be self-motivated, an independent thinker, outgoing, have attention to detail, work independently and collaboratively, be creative and willing to bring new ideas to the table.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and tactical business development coaching and support to attorneys to help grow their practices, including communicating firm successes to clients and prospects.
  • Meet regularly with firm leadership to review business development and marketing initiatives, priorities, progress, and upcoming plans.
  • Coordinate attorney business development activities, including client and prospect meetings, client event attendance and follow-up, and responses to RFQs and RFPs, as opportunities arise.
  • Develop, manage, and distribute client alerts, newsletters, and other marketing communications.
  • Manage the firm's social media presence, including developing, creating, and publishing content that supports the firm's marketing and business development goals.
  • Manage attorney awards and recognition programs, including identifying opportunities and coordinating nominations.
  • Develop and execute public relations initiatives, including building media lists, conducting media outreach, securing speaking engagements and bylined articles, and promoting significant firm news, attorney achievements, new hires, major clients, and case successes.
  • Monitor and distribute media coverage of the firm and its clients.
  • Oversee firm website content and recommend updates to ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistency.
  • Manage the firm's events calendar and coordinate client events, seminars, conference receptions, sponsorships, charitable contributions, and attorney participation in industry, business, and community organizations.
  • Research and procure promotional items and client gifts for events and business development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain marketing distribution lists and the firm's client database (CRM) to support business development and marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate law school recruiting efforts, including on-campus interviews (OCIs), law school events, and other attorney recruiting initiatives.
  • Manage CLE accreditation and reporting, including obtaining state bar approval for attorney presentations and reporting attendance for the firm's in-house CLE programs
  • Assist with new attorney onboarding, including website profiles, biographies, and social media announcements.
  • Assist with developing and tracking business development and marketing budgets and expenses.
  • Perform additional marketing, business development, and administrative projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or similar major
  • 2-5 or more years' experience in marketing, business development, event management and/or communications for a professional services firm – preferably a law firm or professional services firm
  • Strong writing, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience creating digital and print marketing materials using Canva is a plus
