What We Are Looking For

The Engineering Design group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support interstate natural gas pipeline projects. This individual will be a technical resource within the Engineering Design group and must possess the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of people in various departments with tact, courtesy and professionalism. This individual will also represent the Company with customers, suppliers, licensees, third party engineering firms, outside consultants, and industry associations

 

 

 


What You Will Do

The selected candidate should have a mix of civil engineering skills and industry-specific knowledge. Industry specific knowledge would include understanding how to design pipeline routes, select materials (such as steel grades), and calculate wall thickness for pressure ratings. The individual should also possess an understanding of the types of equipment that must be supported.


What You Need

  • BS in Engineering required
  • Minimum 5 years of gas industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (49CFR Part 192, BOCA, ACI, ASTM, ANSI, OSHA, IBC, ASCE, AISC, UPC, AASHTO, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret alignment sheets, geotechnical reports, and topographical survey data
  • Ability to analyze soil stability, slope stability, and erosion control, especially for pipelines crossing hills, rivers, or unstable ground
  • Ability to design and manage complex crossings for roads, railroads, and bodies of water using horizontal direction drilling or open-cut methods
  • Ability to design supports, anchors, bridge crossings and foundations for compressor stations, meter stations and valve sites
  • Ability to develop lift plans for critical equipment
  • Ability to create and maintain technical specifications, engineering standards, construction standards, and O&M standards to ensure code compliance and safety, and to increase efficiency
  • Ability to prepare and coordinate engineering reports, calculations, studies, and presentations
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam
  • Proficiency with STAAD.Pro, RAM Connection, Slide2, AutoPIPE, MAT3D, LPILE, CAESAR II, and SLAT preferred
  • Must be able to plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work
  • Must be able to perform job functions with minimal guidance or supervision and to accomplish goals in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess well-developed analytical and problem solving skills to address complex technical matters
  • Must be accountable for completing quality tasks on schedule and within budget while complying with applicable codes and standards
  • Must be able and willing to take direction from managers and senior leaders
  • Must maintain regular and dependable attendance
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company
  • Must be able and willing to travel (approximately 25%)
