About the Role:

The CNC Mill Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) milling machines to produce precision parts and components. This position requires a strong attention to detail to ensure that all machined parts meet exact specifications and quality standards. The operator will interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to program and adjust machines accordingly. They will also be responsible for monitoring machine performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine maintenance to minimize downtime. Ultimately, the CNC Mill Operator contributes to efficient production workflows and the delivery of high-quality products that meet customer and company standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming and machine setup.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality control procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal CNC machining or manufacturing technology program.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a machine shop environment.
  • Ability to work with a variety of materials including metals and plastics.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up CNC milling machines by loading tools, materials, and inputting machine programs based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operate CNC mills to produce parts with precision, ensuring adherence to dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify quality and accuracy.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or programming errors to minimize production delays.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including machine logs, inspection reports, and material usage.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality control, and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
