What We Are Looking For

As part of the dynamic commercial team responsible for the execution of  transportation, storage, park and loan transactions, and natural gas purchase/sales, the Commercial Account Manager will be responsible for data accumulation and analysis, deal processing and evaluation, communication and execution of complex commercial strategies and initiatives within Kinder Morgan’s East Region interstate natural gas pipelines group, with a specific focus on the gas markets in the eastern U.S.  In addition, the candidate will be responsible for managing customer relationships.  This position will report to the Manager or Director of Marketing and Asset Optimization.


What You Will Do

Essential duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies, including performing due diligence and price discovery in support of maximizing revenue and mitigating price risk relating to short- and long-term firm transportation sales.
  • Develop and manage customer relationships to drive long-term revenue goals.  Proactively communicate with customers to identify commercial opportunities and risks.
  • Proactively interact with internal departments including Commercial Operations, Contract Services, Information Technology, Transportation Services, Account Services, Business Development, Capacity Planning, Legal, Regulatory, Gas Accounting, and other departments within the organization to remain informed of issues that may impact customer service.
  • Provide in-depth analysis to support commercial strategies.  Present and support commercial strategies to senior management.
  • Identify business opportunities and resolve contractual, administrative, and operational issues related to the customer group, which includes producers, gas marketers, gas processors, LDCs, power generators, other pipelines, and other end users.
  • Other duties may be assigned in this position, either directly or through others.

*Job level will be commensurate with experience and skills of successful candidate.


What You Need

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or closely related discipline.

Experience/specific knowledge:

  • Candidate should have at least 3 years of natural gas industry experience in a pipeline commercial, operational or capacity role. 
  • Direct commercial experience in the eastern U.S. gas market is highly preferred.
  • Candidate must demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with strong data modeling and analytical skills to develop tools that support commercial decision-making and performance analysis.

  • Must be articulate, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working conditions:

  • Hybrid schedule, Open Office environment, overnight travel required
