Position Summary

Boardwalk Pipelines is seeking a Commercial Services & Marketing Representative to join our Commercial team in Houston, Texas.

 

This role is responsible for supporting commercial growth initiatives by developing and maintaining customer relationships, identifying and executing new business opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements, and maximizing the utilization of Boardwalk's transportation assets. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between customers and internal stakeholders while ensuring commercial activities align with regulatory requirements, operational capabilities, and strategic business objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the natural gas pipeline industry, commercial contracting, tariff administration, market fundamentals, and FERC regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and administer transportation and interconnect agreements with producers, industrial end-users, and pipeline customers.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to support business growth, customer retention, and long-term asset utilization.
  • Identify and market available transportation capacity in collaboration with the broader Commercial team.
  • Support the evaluation and execution of new business opportunities through customer engagement, market analysis, and commercial presentations.
  • Prepare business recommendations and supporting analyses for management review and approval.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, System Operations, System Planning, Business Development, and other Commercial groups to ensure alignment on customer needs and commercial objectives.
  • Facilitate the resolution of customer issues and contractual disputes while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Monitor market trends and customer needs, identifying opportunities to enhance Boardwalk's competitive position and commercial offerings.
  • Prepare and maintain commercial reports, RFP responses, business reviews, performance metrics, and customer activity updates.
  • Maintain accurate customer, contract, and prospect information within company databases and commercial systems.
  • Support initiatives to optimize and maximize the value of Boardwalk's transportation and storage assets, including marketing underutilized capacity and evaluating growth opportunities.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial, marketing, business development, customer service, scheduling, operations, engineering, or related experience within the natural gas, energy, or pipeline industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of natural gas transportation, and commercial contracting.
  • Working knowledge of FERC regulations, pipeline tariffs, and natural gas industry practices.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply interstate and intrastate pipeline tariffs to commercial opportunities and customer requests.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

 

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting natural gas transportation, storage, marketing, or business development activities.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • North American natural gas supply basins
    • Exploration and production operations
    • Pipeline operations and infrastructure
    • Market analysis and forecasting
    • Project economics
    • Financial analysis
    • Strategic planning
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing external customer relationships.
  • Understanding of pipeline expansion projects, open seasons, and capacity marketing initiatives.
  • MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Energy Management, or a related field.
