Job DetailsJob Location: HQ 1618 - HOUSTON, TX 77039What You’ll Do: As a Construction Project Accountant, your primary focus will be supporting the financial success of our construction projects. Although project accounting will be at the heart of your role, this isn’t a narrowly defined position. You’ll also have opportunities to support the broader accounting team, gain exposure to many aspects of the business, and continue expanding your skills as your experience grows. Monitor project costs and help analyze job profitability. Assist with WIP reporting and job cost analysis. Monitor and analyze project labor, including hours by job, cost code, productivity, labor allocations, and labor variances. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist with monthly close and financial reporting. Support various accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, and GL activities as needed. Research discrepancies and help solve accounting challenges. Participate in process improvement initiatives. Learn our ERP systems and construction accounting processes. Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Administrators, operations teams, and the rest of the finance team to support informed business decisions. Take on new responsibilities and opportunities as your knowledge and experience grow. QualificationsExperience We’d Love to See: We’re more interested in your potential than checking every box. Helpful experience includes: Approximately 1–2 years of formal accounting experience OR experience working in the construction industry with exposure to accounting Job costing WIP reporting A/P and/or A/R Microsoft Office Suite Strong Excel skills Experience with accounting or ERP software Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines A college degree is appreciated but not required. Relevant experience and a willingness to learn are equally valuable. What Success Looks Like: After your first year, you’ll have a solid understanding of construction accounting, confidence in job costing and WIP reporting, experience supporting month-end close, and a broader understanding of how accounting helps drive successful projects.
