Job Title: Data Analyst
Job Type: Full-Time/Contract *this role is a 12-month assignment.
Job Location: Houston, TX 77002 *must be located in the Houston area.
Job Schedule: M-F, 8am-5pm - Hybrid *hybrid schedule will be determined by direct supervisor.
Job Salary: $30/hr

Project and requirements:
The Asset Management Analyst (AMA) will support the Enterprise Technology Asset Management (ETAM) team in managing, analyzing, and optimizing county-wide hardware and software assets. Under the guidance of the ETAM Manager, the AMA will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting the county’s computer replacement program, ensuring compliance with software licensing requirements, and delivering data-driven insights to leadership, procurement, and finance teams.

This role is critical to strengthening hardware lifecycle governance, improving software license utilization, and enabling cost-efficient IT resource planning.


Requirements

Role and responsibilities of the Resource request:

  • Coordinate the inventory, procurement, and deployment of IT hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals) and licensed software across departments.
  • Maintain and enhance asset tracking systems to ensure accurate records of both hardware and software assets.
  • Analyze asset lifecycle data to identify trends, forecast future needs, and support budgeting and procurement planning.
  • Ensure compliance with vendor contracts, licensing agreements, and internal asset management policies.
  • Collaborate with IT, procurement, and departmental stakeholders to align asset strategies and ensure policy adherence.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to maintain data integrity for both hardware and software inventories.
  • Prepare and present reports and dashboards on asset utilization, license compliance, and lifecycle metrics.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets related to hardware and software usage.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience with IT asset management platforms (e.g., Ivanti Neurons, ServiceNow, SCCM).
  • Understanding of IT asset lifecycle management, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Familiarity with software license management, compliance tracking, and renewal processes.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IT hardware and software asset management (preferred).
  • Experience managing the full lifecycle of IT assets and software licenses.
  • Familiarity with asset management best practices, compliance standards, and procurement processes.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or a related field (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting large-scale IT deployment or refresh projects.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement, licensing, or compliance frameworks.
