Position SummaryÂ
The Data Analyst I is an entry-level position within the Business Intelligence & Strategy department at Hays Electrical Services. This role works across all business functions — Operations, Finance, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Workforce Planning, and Safety — building reports, connecting to data sources, and delivering insights that help teams make better decisions.Â
The Analyst I builds reports independently, connects to enterprise data sources including Databricks, and manages their own assigned workload. Â
The right candidate is detail-oriented, foundationally strong in Power BI and data modeling concepts, and ready to contribute from day one.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Reporting & Dashboard DevelopmentÂ
Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards across assigned business unitsÂ
Connect to and query data sources including Databricks, and other enterprise systemsÂ
Handle incoming reporting requests independently, managing timelines and delivering accurate outputsÂ
Maintain existing dashboards, updating data connections, refreshing models, and resolving broken visualsÂ
Validate data accuracy before any report is published or distributedÂ
Follow established reporting templates, naming conventions, and team standardsÂ
Data Preparation & QualityÂ
Pull, clean, and shape data from multiple source systems in preparation for reportingÂ
Identify and flag data quality issues or inconsistencies to the appropriate team memberÂ
Use Power Query to transform and prepare data for reporting useÂ
Follow documented SOPs for recurring data processes and assist in creating repository documentationÂ
Stakeholder EngagementÂ
Gather requirements for assigned reporting requests directly from stakeholdersÂ
Present reports and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesÂ
Communicate proactively on task status, blockers, and delivery timelinesÂ
Escalate complex, multi-layered requests to senior analysts with proper contextÂ
Team Support & DocumentationÂ
Assist senior analysts on larger projects as assigned — data prep, validation, and report componentsÂ
Follow existing process documentation and flag outdated or missing stepsÂ
Contribute to team knowledge by documenting recurring processes and report logicÂ
Minimum QualificationsÂ
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related fieldÂ
0–2 years of professional experience in a data, analytics, or reporting role (internships and co-ops count)Â
Proficient in Power BI, able to connect to data sources, build and maintain data models, and develop reports and dashboards independentlyÂ
Demonstrated experience building a report or dashboard that surfaced meaningful KPIs or insights for a stakeholder Â
Able to manage an assigned workload, track multiple requests, and deliver on timeÂ
Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiencesÂ
Foundational understanding of data modeling concepts Â

Preferred QualificationsÂ
Familiarity with DAX for calculated columns or basic measuresÂ
Experience with Databricks or cloud-based data platformsÂ
Working knowledge of SQL for basic querying and data explorationÂ
Experience following or referencing SOPs in a data or reporting contextÂ
Exposure to construction, trades, or project-based industry dataÂ
Experience with Vista by Trimble, ProjectSight, or similar ERP/project management platformsÂ
Tools & SystemsÂ
Required: Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Power QueryÂ
A plus: DAX, Databricks, SQL, Power Automate, Vista by Trimble, ProjectSight, Â
