Database Developer

Infrastructure – Database Administration is requesting approval to onboard a Senior Database Administrator (Senior DBA) to support mission-critical database operations. This role is essential to maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of multiple database platforms, including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB.

The Senior DBA will also provide support to application teams through SQL development, integration support, performance tuning, and optimization efforts to ensure stable and efficient operations.

Requirements

Role and Responsibilities of the Resource Request Required

The Senior DBA will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing all assigned databases to ensure operational stability and performance. Core responsibilities include:

• Monitoring database performance and conducting proactive tuning
  
• Managing backup and recovery processes
  
• Troubleshooting database issues and ensuring timely resolution
  
• Supporting application deployments and SQL development requests
  
• Collaborating with Infrastructure teams to enhance SQL availability
  
• Implementing Microsoft SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AAG) where appropriate
  

Scheduled Milestones and Deliverables Required

Key deliverables and milestones include:

• Initial onboarding and environment review
  
• Establishment of standardized database maintenance routines
  
• Implementation of improved monitoring, tuning, and optimization processes
  
• Enhancement of backup and restore strategies
  
• Optimization of existing database environments
  
• Coordinated implementation of AAG for improved high availability
  
• Ongoing monthly health checks and performance reports
  

Metrics to Measure Performance of the Resource Required

Performance will be evaluated using the following metrics:

• Database uptime and overall system stability
  
• Reduction in recurring incidents and outages
  
• Successful execution of backup and recovery tests
  
• Timely resolution of support tickets and database-related requests
  
• Improvements in query performance and resource utilization
  
• Adherence to maintenance windows and scheduled routines
