UTHealth Houston’s School of Dentistry is hiring for a Dental Equipment Mechanic Assistant to join their team of professionals. The Assistant will be responsible for maintaining dental equipment for dental clinics, simulation and pre-clinical labs, clinical support labs, and classrooms, troubleshooting and inspections, equipment ordering, and more. Knowledge of basic hand tool and mechanical equipment use is required. Dental equipment experience is not necessary but is a plus!

Position Summary:

Provides and demonstrates technical support for general dental and various school related teaching equipment. Performs highly skilled and specialized mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of dental equipment within the School of Dentistry and remote clinics (offsite clinics and mobile dental clinics).

Position Key Accountabilities:

Assists with the maintenance of various dental equipment.
Assists with Troubleshooting and various dental equipment to determine if repairable or need for technician service.
Assists with Ordering dental equipment parts for small dental equipment repairs and assist with keeping track of assigned tools and test equipment.
Adheres to regulatory guidelines and university policies and procedures that govern equipment support activities with supervisor's guidance.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer software use.
Knowledge of basic hand tool and mechanical equipment use.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
