Job Description:

Electrical engineers are responsible for designing and preparing technical electrical drawings and Bill of Materials.

 

Responsible for the design and layout of custom equipment and field installed projects.  They will be required to select components and materials needed to meet customer specific project requirements.  The ability to communicate overall project concepts, layouts and component designs via complete drawing packages and submittal book data is the primary responsibility of engineering staff personnel.

Preferred Background

Applicants should have experience in/with the following;

  • Knowledge in all disciplines of the HVAC and/or Manufacturing industry
  • Designing electrical power circuits
  • Designing electrical control circuits (AC and DC)
  • Knowledge of the design of and construction practices of manufactured and engineered products and services such as;
    1. Fans
    2. Compressors
    3. Heaters
    4. Controls (DDC and Relay Logic)
    5. Piping

Main Job Task & Responsibilities

  • Design and draw wiring and layout diagrams
  • Select electrical components
  • Design HVAC Sequence of Operations
  • Calculate MCA and MOCP
  • Create visual guidelines for construction purposes
  • Draft technical details
  • Specify electrical connections
  • Electrical back-pan detailed layouts
  • Use Computer Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings, AutoCAD electrical
  • Create and store drawings electronically
  • Prepare variations of design
  • Explain concepts to customers, fabrication and installation workers
  • Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications
  • Physically observe each project in fabrication and provide input as project is in progress
  • Redline/As built

Education and Experience

  • Must be proficient in the following software packages
    1. AutoDesk AutoCAD
    2. Microsoft Word
    3. Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge in NEC
  • Knowledge with hazardous locations and its requirements
  • Knowledge in IEC / ATEX is a plus
  • BSME or BSEE required
  • Registered Engineer in the State of Texas
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical codes for hazardous areas and NFPA 496 systems
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience in HVAC industry

  • Possesses general working knowledge of structural design
  • Ability to read and understand systems engineering drawings

  • Strong organizational skills required
