Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise in the planning, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of electrical systems supporting industrial manufacturing operations. This role manages electrical aspects of capital and process improvement projects, ensures the reliability and performance of production equipment, and provides advanced troubleshooting for electrical, automation, and control systems. The Electrical Engineer collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and external contractors to optimize equipment performance, improve system reliability, support preventive maintenance initiatives, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering standards, OEM specifications, and organizational objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare Electrical work scope for Capital Projects and process improvement projects.
  • Perform the site walkthrough and scope discussion with 3rd party contractor.
  • Receive Quotes, prepare purchase requisition and help Engineering Team throughout the project cycle.
  • Assist in performing contractor evaluations and quote reviews.
  • Assist Engineering team preparing CAPEX project report, KPIs, Budget report.
  • Assist Maintenance team in resolving critical Electrical issues.(VFDs, Automation)
  • Analytically resolve electrical malfunctions back to OEM Specifications.
  • Responsible for the electrical performance of equipment and support process improvement projects where applicable.
  • Communicate with personnel on electrical issues. Assist in development and review preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Must be available and able to work outside the normal work week schedule when needed. (Emergency breakdowns and Scheduled Outages).
  • Participate in the continuous improvement and training of Electrical Technicians.
  • Assist in the input of work orders for the Maintenance Department.
  • Prepare reports on equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Assist in the coordination of maintenance shutdowns with Maintenance Manager and Operations Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Considerations may be given to a Certified Technical Training Program or a 2-Year Degree in conjunction with additional On the-Job experience. (This will need to be verified and may require testing) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Skills and Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge in Programmable Logic Controls, VFD Logic, Automation Circuitry, Level I and II Communication Systems as well as basic electrical circuitry relating to an Industrial Manufacturing Facility. Knowledge of High Voltage distribution and switch gear systems. Experience with Allan-Bradley systems is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of AC/DC rotating machines is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in knowledge of Auto CAD, Microsoft Office, Scheduling and/or Project Management.
  • Knowledge in Hydraulic Power and Servo systems preferred but not required.

Personal Competences:

  • The ability to learn new software applications.
  • Visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and 
  • discretion with confidential information. 
  • Ability to coordinate last-minute project-based work and details as well as the ability 
  • totravel.
  • Read, write, and speak English in a clear and effective manner. Ability to learn and 
  • utilize new software for Computer Maintenance Management System. 

Safety:

  • Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are split between a professional office environment and normal manufacturing 
  • environment. 
  • Work involves delegating and operational detail.
  • Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.  
  • Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.  
  • Manual dexterity is sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. 
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE. 
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.  
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
