Stantec is looking for a driven Environmental Scientist to lead impactful work across the Gulf region. Join a team providing permitting strategy, environmental assessment and application preparation, and technical support for projects that require municipal, provincial/state, and federal environmental approvals and licenses.

We help our clients identify constraints and respond to opportunities within the changing regulatory and corporate environment through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and government regulators. Our team members are involved in a variety of projects that may include Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) delineations and Clean Water Act permitting, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments and species presence/absence surveys, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), siting and routing studies, stream assessments and sampling, habitat restoration, siting and zoning applications, and complex planning and permitting for a variety of industries including oil and gas renewable energy, transportation, power, government, and development.

This position can be located in or near any Stantec Texas office. Flexibility to travel as needed for project and fieldwork (up to 75%), potentially requiring extended stays in the field.

Your Key Responsibilities

Support projects and key client relationships— natural gas pipelines, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, solar facilities, and other energy-related projects; residential and commercial development; mitigation/conservation banking, water resources infrastructure; and transportation.
Lead teams that collect and report on tasks that include, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterizations, land use mapping and vegetation cover classification, and other natural resource-focused surveys. Coordinate agency communications, oversee technical assessments, and guide project teams through successful execution.
Assist with preparing work plans, assembling project teams, delegating tasks and ensuring compliance with scope and timely completion of tasks.
Establishes and maintains quality assurance plans and safety plans for assigned projects.
Provide mentorship to early career staff, with potential opportunities for direct supervision.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
