Argus Analytics forms one half of the advisory division of Argus Media Group. Comprising a global team of 90 analysts, we provide clients with analysis, data and forecasts across 35 commodities and markets spanning oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, metals, power markets and energy transition solutions. Our fertilizer expertise is a foundational component of our rapidly growing Analytics business. As we enter an exciting expansion phase, we are now looking for a passionate and driven Fertilizer Analyst in Houston to join our global Fertilizer Analytics Team.
At its core this role will contribute to the delivery, improvement and expansion of our nitrogen fertilizer services across North America; supporting the development of inspiring thought leadership for clients; building enduring relationships with the industry and reinforcing Argus’s reputation as the first voice clients turn to when they want help to understand the fertilizer market.
Our team numbers about 20 in Houston, made up of mix of industry experts and recent graduates from diverse and international backgrounds. The successful candidate will work with them and under the guidance of our global nitrogen experts to create industry-leading reports, forecasts and presentations on key nitrogen commodities and the evolving clean ammonia sector to our global client base.
This is a great opportunity for an early career analyst with a background in economics, statistics, chemical engineering, agriculture, energy, looking to build their career in commodity analysis and who wants to play a prominent role in the development of the next generation of Argus’s Analytics services across North America.
What you will be doing
Lead components of the Nitrogen Team’s client deliverables, under guidance from managers, ranging from written reports, commodity forecasts to wider thought leadership pieces and conference presentations
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the wider Fertilizer Team’s core models used in the forecasting of supply, demand, capacity, imports and exports, price, production costs and margin analysis
Work with our global team of analysts to ensure the analysis produced accurately reflects the highly complex and globally connected nitrogen value chains
Drive the continuous improvement of our subscription reports in terms of their analytical rigour, breadth and depth of detail and quality of delivery
Engage with wider Analytics business to ensure the major trends in adjacent commodity markets are appropriately reflected in the nitrogen products
Support the development and commercialization of new data-driven products
What we’re looking for in you
Graduate / Master’s degree from a top tier university
Highly numerate with experience analysing comprehensive datasets quickly and meticulously with excellent attention to detail and accuracy focus
Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills
Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint; awareness of other statistical and programming languages such as R is an advantage
Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets
Flexible in approach, highly motivated and willing to contribute to the growth of Argus’ Analytics Services.
The training and support provided throughout the onboarding period requires full office attendance. Following successful completion of onboarding, hybrid working is available in accordance with the company policy, which currently requires 3 days per week attendance.
