Galvanizing Material Handler

JOB SUMMARY

The Galvanizing Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, preparation, and handling of steel materials throughout the galvanizing process at Madden Galvanizing. This position supports production operations while ensuring compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely load, unload, stage, and transport steel materials throughout the galvanizing process

• Assist with hanging, racking, positioning, and removal of materials to ensure proper galvanizing and quality results

• Operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and hand tools in accordance with training and certification requirements

• Inspect materials for defects, damage, cleanliness, and readiness prior to processing

• Perform basic finishing tasks including cleaning, grinding, and touch-up work as assigned

• Maintain work areas in a clean, organized, and hazard-free condition

• Follow production schedules, work instructions, and supervisor direction

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding workflow and material status

• Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, equipment malfunctions, or damaged materials

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs

SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with all Madden Companies’ safety policies, procedures, and work rules

• Follow OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements at all times

• Properly use required PPE including hard hats, eye/face protection, gloves, steel-toe footwear, and heat-resistant gear

• Participate in required safety training, toolbox talks, and safety meetings

• Follow lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot-work procedures when applicable

• Exercise Stop-Work Authority when unsafe conditions are identified

QUALIFICATIONS

• Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred but not required

• Forklift and/or crane operation experience preferred (certification provided as required)

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Industrial galvanizing facility with exposure to heat, noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals.
