Summary
Leader for the service department of the Houston, TX branch by providing effective leadership in safety, customer experience, quality craftsmanship, and financial performance. Lead the service and repair of off-road heavy construction equipment including excavators, wheel loaders, off-highway trucks, and other equipment, for customer machines and the NED rental fleet. Support product lines that include Hyundai Construction Equipment, Bell Off-Road Trucks, Sakai, and other represented brands, ensuring equipment is serviced safely, efficiently, accurately, and on time to exceed customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Environmental, Health and Safety:

- Serve as the safety leader for the branch. Lead by example.
- Drive the safety culture in a proactive, intentional manner.
- Complete all EHS related inspections thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Ensure all safety policies, procedures, and best practices are being followed consistently.
- Conduct thorough incident investigations immediately and identify appropriate corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Identify safer, better ways to work on equipment.
People Leadership and Development:

- Attract, select, develop, and retain high-caliber service personnel from within or outside the business.
- Effectively manages staff through active performance management and implementation of a meaningful development process.
- Coordinate training for technicians and ensure complete utilization of all available staff training tools.
- Lead as a team player, working effectively with shop technicians to complete projects efficiently while fostering collaboration, open communication, and an inclusive environment.
Customer Satisfaction:

- Build and maintain customer relationships.
- Provide needed service solutions that address customer concerns and enhance customer experience.
- Prepare accurate and timely repair-cost estimates and service quotes for internal and external customers.
Department Management:

- Manage all repair and maintenance work for customer machines and NED rental fleet equipment
- Analyze shop time, space, customer demand, and market-share trends to maximize the department’s profit potential.
- Coordinate and ensure needed services are completed on time.
- Keep current on knowledge of service bulletins and equipment updates.
- Remain current on service warranty requirements and manage the timely and accurate submission of manufacturer warranty claims.
- Update all down equipment status weekly.
- Ensure necessary shop supplies are on hand.
- Ensure shop facility and equipment yard is well maintained, clean, safe, and secure.
- Ensure department safety standards and documentation are maintained.
- Manage customer relations and the service invoicing process, and ensure receiving, warranty parts returns, and the company’s standard operating procedures are completed promptly and within company guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to equipment and proper documentation.
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in equipment diagnostics and manufacturer diagnostic software, hydraulic systems and hydraulic repair, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, and diesel engines.
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

- combination of education and relevant management-level experience in service operations and labor sales preferred.
- Management or supervisory experience is required, with demonstrated communication and leadership skills.
- Five or more years of hands-on experience, preferably servicing heavy equipment.
- Cummins certification and/of familiarity with represented OEM brands preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
