Job Description

You'll provide specialized critical care for patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries while working alongside physicians and an interdisciplinary healthcare team in a structured international intensive care environment. Your expertise in patient assessment, advanced monitoring, and rapid clinical decision-making will help ensure safe, evidence-based care for U.S. government and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill patients while recognizing, responding to, and helping manage unexpected or emergent changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and other physician-prescribed treatments while maintaining safe medication administration practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized, evidence-based plans of care.
  • Operate and monitor advanced critical care equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and other ICU technologies that support complex patient care.
  • Document patient assessments, treatments, and clinical progress accurately within the electronic medical record while maintaining complete and current documentation.
  • Educate and support patients and their families throughout treatment and recovery while advocating for patient rights, respecting individual beliefs, and promoting patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program with an Associate, Bachelor, Master of Science in Nursing, or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • 3+ years of ICU or critical care experience, including 6 months of direct patient care within the last year.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder required; ability to obtain and maintain an MRPT U.S. Government security clearance; valid U.S. passport with at least 18 months remaining before expiration and maintained throughout the assignment.
  • Ability to meet program physical readiness requirements, communicate effectively in English, and perform duties involving prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Preferred

  • CCRN certification preferred; extensive ICU experience may be considered in place of certification.
  • ATLS certification.
  • Experience providing healthcare services within military or government-supported healthcare environments.
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
