About the Role:

The Installation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and maintenance of telecommunications and cable systems. This position involves installing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and coaxial cable networks to deliver high-quality service to residential and commercial clients. The technician will conduct site surveys and interpret blueprints to plan and execute installations efficiently and safely. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to prevent service disruptions and maintain system integrity. Ultimately, the Installation Technician ensures that all cabling and related equipment are installed to specification, providing reliable connectivity and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and cable installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols related to cable installation and electrical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in fiber optic installation or splicing (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician).
  • Experience with fire alarm system wiring and installation.
  • Familiarity with cable TV system setup and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of network equipment and communication protocols.
  • Ability to operate specialized testing and diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic and coaxial cables according to industry standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and identify potential challenges before deployment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan cable routes and equipment placement.
  • Install and configure cable TV systems, fire alarm wiring, and other related communication infrastructure.
