About the Role:

The Installation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and maintenance of fiber optic and cable systems for residential and commercial clients. This position requires the technician to expertly install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cabling, coaxial cables, and fire alarm systems, ensuring all work meets industry standards and client specifications. The technician will conduct site surveys and read blueprints to plan and execute installations efficiently and accurately. Collaboration with project managers and other technical staff is essential to coordinate schedules and resolve any on-site challenges. Ultimately, the Installation Technician ensures high-quality, reliable connectivity solutions that support the communication infrastructure of our clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in fiber optics installation and splicing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with cable TV systems, coaxial cable installation, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician).
  • Experience with fire alarm system installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to cable installation.
  • Previous experience conducting site surveys and project planning.
  • Technical training or associate degree in telecommunications or related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables and coaxial cables according to project specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and identify potential challenges before deployment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to plan and execute installations accurately.
  • Install and maintain fire alarm systems and related cabling in compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cable TV, fiber optic cabling, and fire alarm systems promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installation activities, test results, and service reports.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with clients to ensure satisfaction and project success.
