About the Role:
The Installation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and maintenance of fiber optic and cable systems across various residential and commercial sites. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to install, splice, and test fiber optic and coaxial cables according to industry standards and client specifications. The technician will interpret blueprints and conduct site surveys to plan and execute installations efficiently and safely. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and cable installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to cable installation and working at heights.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician).
- Experience with fire alarm system installation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with cable TV systems and related equipment.
- Basic knowledge of network configurations and testing equipment.
- Previous experience conducting site surveys and preparing technical reports.
Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic and coaxial cables for cable TV, internet, and fire alarm systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and site surveys to plan cable routes and installation procedures.
- Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements, identify potential challenges, and recommend solutions.
- Install and configure cable infrastructure including fiber optic cabling, coaxial cables, and related hardware in residential and commercial environments.
- Ensure all installations comply with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
- Troubleshoot and repair cable faults and connectivity issues promptly to minimize service disruptions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installation activities, test results, and service reports.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and resolve issues.
